Unlock Siemens S7-1200 / S7-1500 FB Password

3:29 · Published Dec 2025

Platform: Siemens

Recover a know-how protection password on a Siemens S7-1200 / S7-1500 block so you can view and edit its logic again. Know-how protection is the official Siemens term for this feature: it hides the code inside a block, while the block's title, comments and interface stay visible — the logic itself just won't open without the password. If you'd rather have it handled, I provide manual Siemens recovery support — done personally, with nothing sold or downloaded from this site.

What this walkthrough covers

  • Know-how protection on Function Blocks (FB), Functions (FC), Organization Blocks (OB) and Data Blocks (DB)
  • S7-1200 and S7-1500 projects built in TIA Portal
  • Recovering edit access without disturbing the rest of the project

Supported software & hardware

  • Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs (including S7-1500F safety variants)
  • TIA Portal / STEP 7 Professional, V13 and later
  • Know-how-protected FB, FC, OB and DB blocks

Who this is for

  • You forgot or lost the know-how protection password on your own project
  • A previous engineer left and no password record was kept
  • You've inherited a locked TIA Portal project you legally own
  • You need to open or edit a know-how-protected block for maintenance

Locked out of a Siemens project you own?

Send the software and version, and a short description of what you're locked out of. The work is manual and done personally — no tools sold, no downloads.

Questions

Which products and versions does this cover?

It applies to Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPUs (including S7-1500F safety variants), TIA Portal / STEP 7 Professional, V13 and later, Know-how-protected FB, FC, OB and DB blocks.

Who does the recovery?

I do, personally. Every job is manual — it isn't automated with a tool and it isn't resold to anyone else.

Do I have to own the equipment?

Yes. I only help owners and authorized maintainers regain access to their own projects — in line with the authorized-use-only policy on the channel.

Do you sell a tool or a download for this?

No. There are no tools for sale and no downloads on this site. Recovery is a manual service I perform or guide you through.
